Altar Angels help maintain the sanctuary (altar area) of the church. Dusting, polishing, etc. More hands make less work.  Contact: Jim Tucker (843) 608-4869.

Gardening Angels help spruce up the church grounds.  Bring your gardening gloves and a bottle of water and share your green thumb.  Contact: Ed Sclesky (843) 402-9795.

Parish Council meetings are open to all parishioners.  Seats on the council are elected and parishioners are encourages to join the board.  Parish Council meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except June & July) @ 7:00 pm in the Family Life Center.  Contact: Tom Wojslawowicz (843) 637-4663.

R. C. I. A. or the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.  If you are interested in sponsoring someone who wants to join the church, this is the group for you.  Contact: Rita Schoene (843) 556-4611 ext. 104

St. Vincent de Paul organization is always looking for people to help us take care of those in need. Contact: Tim Allega (843) 901-7837

Altar Servers help the priest during Mass.  Altar Servers can be any age as long as you have made your First Communion.  If you would like to receive training to become an Altar Server please contact Marci Grimsley (843) 571-7887 or Eileen Heider (843) 817-7655.

Welcoming Committee provides a warm welcome to families and adults who are new to our parish.  Members of this ministry assemble Welcome Packets and deliver then to each newly registered family as a way to greet them personally and provide helpful information about the parish.  The Welcoming Committee also organizes a Welcome Mass three to four times a year for new parishioners,  so they may meet other St. Joseph families and be welcomed to our church community.  If you are interested in joining the Welcoming Committee please contact Holly Maclure at or (831) 588-2629.

Ladies Softball plays in the Ashley River Baptist Church League and practices at Ashley River Baptist Church on Savannah Hwy.  Spring Training starts in March.  If you are 16 or older and interested in playing please contact Carol Schwerin at (843) 343-2644.

Arimatheans gather in the church for a funeral to bring comfort to the grieving family members and their friends. They serve as greeters and distribute the Order of Worship and if needed serve as a Reader.  If you would like to help in this valued ministry, please call the office (843) 556-4611.

Knights of Columbus are a Catholic men’s fraternal organization which promotes charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.  The John J. Egan Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at 7:00 pm in the Family Life Center. Contact: GK Ken Biser (843) 889-3259

Piecemakers are a sassy group of ladies who talk and sew.  Men are welcome if you can “piece” with them.  They make quilts to raffle at various church functions.  Contact: Ida Desrosiers (843) 769-0923

Religious Education members teach the children of the parish during the school year.  We are always in need of teachers and assistants.  We meet each Wednesday from September to May in the Family Life Center from 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm.  Contact: Rita Schoene (843) 556-4611 ext. 104

Readers have several functions during the Mass.  From carrying the Book of Gospels in the procession to the altar, to reading the scriptures before the Gospel as well as the intentions of the Universal Prayer.  If you have a strong, clear voice and would like to receive training to become a reader please contact Eileen Heider (843) 817-7655.

Greeters are volunteers that greet people at the Saturday and Sunday Masses.  Greeting people at the doors of the church is something that is very simple, but is a powerful extension of our faith and a true expression of the welcome that we have for each other.  You can come to the Mass you usually attend, arriving about 15 minutes early, and enjoy the opportunity to greet people as they come in, hand out our bulletin and be a welcoming face to your fellow parishioner.  If you are interested in becoming a Greeter before Mass, please contact Holly Maclure at or (831) 588-2629.

Ladies Club hosts many receptions in the church throughout the year.  If you are a FUN, STRONG woman that loves to cook and bake we meet once a month from September to May on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Family Life Center.  Contact Ginger King (843) 693-1208.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) help distribute the Eucharistic Body during Mass as well as to those in our community who are home bound, hospitalized or living in residential institutions.  if you would like to receive training to become an EMHC please contact Eileen Heider (843)817-7655

Finance Committee is an advisory board for the finances of the church.  It is a three year appointed term.  If interested please contact Father Gabe at the church office (843) 556-4611.

Respect for LifePlease join us in praying the rosary at the abortion clinic located within our parish boundaries. We pray every third Saturday of the month from 8-9 a.m. under the guidance of one of our diocesan priests or deacons.  Contact Steve Boyle at (843) 763-0681.

Safe Haven Online Training

The Diocese of Charleston, Office of Child and Youth Protection Services, uses an adult prevention education program called Safe Haven.  This program is online and replaces the live Virtus training program.  This training is required for all employees, regardless of position along with all volunteers that have regular access to minors.  It will be necessary to re-train all employees and volunteers who were trained five years ago and beyond.  Please click here for more information.
